Aunty Kelly joined us for a 28-day live-in confinement period, and I honestly don't know how we would have managed without her. I was recovering from a C-section, and aunty Kelly took care of me in ways I didn't even know I needed. She is gentle, patient, kind, and deeply knowledgeable —...

Our Confinement Nanny rankings are determined by two key factors: a Truncated Total Evaluation Score, reflecting performance across multiple jobs and feedback from various mothers, and Profile Strength, which assesses the transparency and credibility of a Nanny's profile. This dual approach ensures parents get the information they need while recognizing nannies for consistent, reliable, and quality care. We are always improving this system based on community feedback.

More Singaporean mothers are now applying for their Malaysian Confinement Nanny's work permit and insurance themselves using their Singpass. Learn how you can confidently handle it yourself too.
Apply Online 4 Weeks Before EDD
Submit the Confinement Nanny's Work Permit application via the MOM website. You will receive an In-Principle Approval (IPA) letter in about a week.
Send IPA to the Nanny
Once approved, share the Employee Copy of the IPA with the nanny so she can prepare accordingly.
Nanny Verifies IPA
The nanny checks the IPA's validity using the official MOM portal.
Get Medical Insurance
Purchase at least S$15,000 medical coverage for her employment period, which typically costs ~S$100 including GST.
Notify Nanny After Birth
Inform the nanny once your baby is born so she can proceed with next steps.
Apply for SG Arrival Card
Nanny submits her Arrival Card via the ICA website or mobile app before entering Singapore.
Submit DE Number
She must send you the 'DE Number' from her Arrival Card for immigration processing.
Issue Work Permit After Arrival
Once she arrives, request the final Work Permit issuance from MOM. Apply for a full term (usually 28+ days).
Pay Monthly Levy
As the employer, you are responsible for paying the foreign worker levy monthly until the Nanny's term ends.
A work permit can feel like paperwork until one missing step delays everything. This guide maps the process for mums and nannies, from IPA approval to insurance, levy payment, arrival, and permit issuance.
