It’s very clear to me that Aunty Jackie loves to cook. Every meal she prepared was meticulous and nutritious. We polished off every plate of food she prepared and I think that’s the highest compliment we can give to her. Where there are pockets of free time, Aunty Jackie would make the effort to prepare something a little extra - bibimbap, western cuisine, all of which we greatly appreciated.

Aunty Jackie cared for my baby as if it was her own and I think that’s speaks volumes. Right from day 1, she guided us on the right amount of formula milk, little tricks to swaddle our baby and how to soothe him. As the days progressed, Aunty Jackie seemed to understand our baby’s cues for milk and cries for discomfort that he almost always instantly quietened down or fell her asleep in her arms! Truly a baby whisperer!

I think what stood out for me was that Aunty Jackie understood that caregiving wasn’t just for the baby. She cared for my wife and was patient with teaching my wife how to breastfeed, which made her breastfeeding journey much less stressful than it could be. Aunty Jackie also understood the stresses that came from being cooped up at home during confinement and would make the effort to whip up dishes which were to my wife’s liking. She genuinely cared for the well being of my wife.
