She was very supportive of helping me breastfeed despite challenges, my dietary requirements (changing some things in confinement to suit my palate), and most of all - her attitude. She was always positive, friendly, very good listener and advisor. She is the emotional support every new mum should have! She has such a tiring job but never showed fatigue and made sure I was always looked after. She altered her break times so I could rest more as I was also managing a toddler. She was very helpful with everything and my toddler thinks aunty Gean is part of the family and says she doesn’t want her to go home. -A Postpartum Journey by AuntyGean💜

On February 28, 2026, the U.S.–Israel–Iran conflict officially erupted.

The news of missiles, airstrikes, and rising tensions once felt distant — something happening on the other side of the world. Yet unexpectedly, the reality of war slowly found its way into my own postpartum care journey.

The first thing affected was my flight ticket. One delay notice after another arrived: cancelled flights, restricted airport operations, tightened aviation controls, and even reports that parts of Dubai Airport had temporarily suspended operations due to security concerns. The atmosphere was filled with uncertainty, leaving many travelers trapped in anxious waiting.

During that period, Mommy once messaged me and asked:

“Will you still come?”

My answer never changed.

“I will definitely be there.”

Because I knew a little life was about to enter this world, and a family was waiting.

For a confinement nanny, showing up is never merely about work — it is a promise made to life itself.

Finally, after the airport reopened, airlines were only permitted to operate one flight per day. On the night of March 25, I began this unforgettable “postpartum journey amid war.”

Seven hours later, at 5:30 in the morning, I arrived in Dubai.

The early air carried a slight chill as I dragged my luggage into a taxi. Seventeen minutes later, I finally stood in front of Mommy’s home. Only then did the tension I had been carrying slowly ease.

Later, when Mommy returned home from the hospital, she laughed and told me:

“My water suddenly broke at home. I couldn’t even get into the car, so we had to call an ambulance. Before we reached the hospital, baby couldn’t wait anymore and was born inside the ambulance!”🥺

From then on, every time a new nurse came on shift, Mommy became the hospital’s “legendary mom.”

“Oh! You’re the mommy who delivered your baby in the ambulance! You’re so brave!”😘

Thankfully, everything went smoothly.Mommy was safe. Baby was safe.

And I also met a baby girl with almost no jaundice — something that genuinely makes a postpartum caregiver happy for a very long time. Watching a newborn feed well, sleep peacefully, and maintain a healthy rosy complexion is a quiet joy that words can hardly describe.

Throughout that month, I witnessed a mother’s incredible dedication to breastfeeding.

🍼From those precious first drops of colostrum, to gradually stabilizing her milk supply; from endless pumping, increasing supply, breast massages, direct latching, and waking up countless times through the night to feed her baby — behind every drop of breast milk was a mother’s silent yet unwavering love.

She came from New Zealand, carrying the discipline and vitality often seen in athletic women. Muay Thai, kickboxing, marathons, and yoga were all part of her lifestyle. The endurance, rhythm, and self-discipline built through years of training naturally extended into her postpartum recovery and motherhood journey.

Nutritionally, she maintained a low-carb, high-protein diet, complemented by quality vegetables, fruits, and nuts. Even through postpartum exhaustion and sleepless nights, she continued to carry a bright, sunlit smile — gentle, yet deeply strong.

Daddy, meanwhile, possessed the soul of a musician.

With a bass electric guitar in hand, his level of professionalism was easily stage-worthy. The deep rhythmic tones of his music blended beautifully with Mommy’s energetic athletic lifestyle.

Together, this family felt like a living composition — a harmony of health, passion, discipline, and art. Authentic, warm, and deeply inspiring.

I also witnessed what many would call a true “super dad.”

While helping care for the newborn, he quietly took on much of the emotional support and daily routines for their two-year-old eldest child, easing sibling jealousy and reducing stress within the household. Often, the warmest form of love within a family is not grand or dramatic, but the quiet willingness to continue supporting one another through exhaustion.

And amid all these ordinary yet beautiful moments, missile warning sirens occasionally echoed outside the windows.

Fortunately, we remained safe throughout. I was also deeply grateful for Dubai’s highly efficient defense systems, which repeatedly protected the city and its people.😘

This extraordinary experience reshaped my understanding of what “being present” truly means.

I realized that the most important part of this work is not simply completing tasks well.

It is the willingness to show up, protect, accompany, and carry responsibility even in times of uncertainty and unrest.

Postpartum care is never only about taking care of a mother and baby.

Sometimes, it is about becoming a source of steadiness and reassurance during one of a family’s most vulnerable, overwhelming, and life-changing seasons.

I am deeply grateful to have met the Leong family during this special chapter of my life. Beyond accompanying them through the arrival of their newborn, I also had the opportunity to experience another side of Dubai. During quieter moments, I visited museums and spent time sightseeing at Dubai Mall. Even beneath the shadow of war, the city continued moving forward, and people continued living with strength and grace. Those moments gave me a deeper appreciation for the meaning of peace.

Some journeys are remembered because of the places we visit.

Others are remembered because of the people we meet and the emotions we carry home.
