Auntie Jackie always put a lot of effort into cooking meals for me and would try to cook different types of meals to keep things interesting, even things like char siu! She also cooked western style dishes like baked salmon and roasted whole chicken. Her focus on keeping me fed with enough protein and fibre, and soup at lunch and dinner was essential for recovery.

Auntie Jackie felt like my second mum during this period as she gave me emotional support and self care advice during my recovery. She would always offer help and insist I rested. For example I had a slow recovery from inflammation on my minor tear after birth, she showed me the side lying feeding position which allowed me to rest and avoid movement on my stitches.

Beyond her practical skills, Auntie Jackie felt like a second mum to me. She provided emotional support, helpful recovery advice, and always encouraged me to rest. When I struggled with slow healing, she taught me the side-lying feeding position, which made a huge difference.
