I engaged a confinement nanny through FB group and had a very terrible experience. My baby suffered because of the confinement nanny. If you are interested to find out who she is can PM me privately. Hopefully it will not happen to your child.

Hi parents, we just finished our confinement in 2024, and finally have some time to highlight and warn future parents when engaging Nannies and especially to avoid this one. We slept on this, but could not resist warning others as it really affected us.

Transport

- demands transport to and fro from her destination and locations are dodgy such as sleazy hotels in town

Food/Cooking

- demands ingredients to be bought before her arrival and refuses to go and buy with husband due to old age and weak legs, rather not trouble her and 'rest' at home

- demands ingredients as she only has a fixed list of cooking dishes hence unable to improvise, bought wrong mushrooms and has been deemed useless hence not cooking.

- overbuys and undercooks, our grocery bills came up to $800 in the first two weeks due to her unruly ingredients and even scolds the husband for missing out on the ingredient.

- cooks extremely badly, while praising herself to be nicer than any other nanny in the world, cooks the same vegetable taste and style for 28 days, blames the sauce for not being premium enough

- cooks exclusively for her own wellbeing, not the mother, instead of portioning out and managing the protein, she cooks 2 whole fish for 3 pax, exclaiming 1 fish is not enough for 3 pax hence cook more and eats 1/3 of it.

- when asked about the menu, she just shrugs us off and says "just eat what I cook, you won't regret"??????? utterly confused.

- cooks for her own delight, demanded prawns and when questioned as wife cannot eat seafood, she said she misses her hometown and is craving prawns?? bought $10 of it and she gobbled them down in 2 days by adding it to her soups personally/exclusively.

- cooks atrocious breakfast by mixing everything she sees, roti prata with corn and sausage and tomato sauce to make it a pizza? Chicken teriyaki sauce with Chee Cheong Fan??? She fries whole meal bread with oil saying it's nicer that way.

- demands easy breakfast items to make her life easy, such as steam friendly food and complains when it is not premium enough or not there and cooks rubbish for breakfast

- demands not to cook when we go to the doctors as there is not enough time, fair, but demands special takeaway food from the coffee shop, stating that she doesn't eat noodles and must be roasted duck instead of marinated duck. Demands for prawn noodle again because she misses her hometown food.

- demands for good fruits, calming it is for the mother, but snacking away in the afternoon on cherries, blueberries and mangoes.

- cooks with no caution or care, brand new house for us and there is turmeric sauce all over the wall and simply acts blur when questioned or discovered by us, claiming that it is no big deal and can be wiped away easily.

- Nanny demands confinement products from Hock Hua Tonic ONLY, had to re-buy on the first day after coming back from the hospital, only to find out she wants the easy way out as they are pre-packed and easier to cook for mother and extra for herself.

- Nanny drinks the confinement soup from Hock Hua Tonic daily with my mother, eating all the leftovers and adding pork rib into them daily for her own consumption. I bought 3kg of Pork Ribs because she demanded it. To my knowledge, the soup itself is one portion and meant for mothers only but she adds ingredients every day and drinks it happily.

- Nanny cooks different food for us and herself, often taking expensive items and adding them into her own dish, black fungus, prawn, and meat and hiding it at the corner and 'eat later' to be less obvious.
Personal Hygiene / Matters

- Uses the washing machine at her delight, half load, full load, washing her clothes that she bought online and delivered to our house. Utilizes all the equipment to her advantage, locks the door and hides in the toilet for hours. Never once cleaned the toilet, had to pick up her hair from the drain as she simply turned a blind eye and left all her toiletries around.

- Talks on the phone daily without fail, till late at night and says she hardly got any sleep.

- Ons aircon every day, 2pm - 5pm, 9pm - 8am, saying it is very hot and stuffy and baby needs it.

- Watches iPad in the living room in the afternoon while snacking on our snacks and blasting the volume as loud as my computer, drinks all our tea saying she loves tea.

- Not asking permission to take more items from the storeroom, while we are not around, goes in and takes items for her own usage, no notification or courtesy to inform us. Throws away 3 of our sponges as she thinks they are worn out, but no notification.

- Demands for a bed, pillow and charging point, lots of fluff to say no need on things, but sprawls her belonging all over the room, treating it like a hotel, even having to wash the bedsheets for her.

Duties/Responsibilities

- 28 days - no instances of mopping the floor, only wants to use magic mop and mops the kitchen lazily, relying on our Dyson and robot vacuum to do the rest.

- Uses the washing machine twice daily, washing some of her shoppee buys... my electricity bill went up 10x, water bill went up 4x.

- Vacuums her room daily and not even the house more than thrice in 28 days.

- Washes minimally, when friends and family are over, pretends to go and bathe as the right time to avoid washing for them and jokes about caring for the mother only and not the family members.

- Sneers at us when our friends are coming over saying "Come again?" "How many?" not sure if i am the owner or her.

- Constantly asking for treats and good food, citing "Leave me some good stuff" when my friends bring muffins, durian and pastries, automatically assuming she can get some as her afternoon snack.

- Loves to pretend to ask the mother to breastfeed and goes back into the room and closes the door and on aircon.

- Unable to throw rubbish as not able to decipher digital lock, hence i have to throw the rubbish every day, during lunch and dinner, happily leaves it there and goes into her room to rest.

- Demands baby items of specific brand, citing that the others are not 'strong' when questioned on how she came about this she sneers and says "You won't listen to me anyways" and just shrugs along and is upset there are not premium items for her convenience.

- Exclaims that all problems of the baby are ok and not to be worried about, belittling the parent's concern and exclaims that she can be a doctor also whenever we visit them as they say the same things as her but obviously with some data and recommendations.

- Diaper bin - throws all her personal rubbish into the diaper bin, makes it 1.5x faster to be filled. Hence making it a hassle for me as those are curated plastics bags meant for diapers but properly misused.

- Speaks gibberish Chinese to the baby, saying things like 'why make a fuss' 'why so noisy' 'take it easy?' in a very uneducated way, with no value add at all to his life, and also annoyingly annoying,..

- Absolutely obnoxious and negative, telling the mother that she is slow and does not know how to do certain things, giving doctor advice day in day out, not eating chicken in the first week? Went to our Gynae and de-bunked it big time, but still to no avail on her, citing she knows better about open wounds and surgery, but can't event speak English.

- True stubborn to the bone, with no intentions to learn, adapt and improve herself for future mothers, give remarks that she gets paid more with other mothers and her opportunities are everlasting, trying to belittle our house and items as we are not big eaters hence, we do not want anything fancy.

Lastly, if you have scrolled through quickly to read the final thoughts, I'm glad you've stayed because here comes the Gaus. My digital doorbell caught it nice and clear with audio.

She has an external affair in Singapore, often on the phone, and this time he delivers food to our house while we are NOT AT HOME with LO alone as we had to run some urgent errands for 1 hour. Knowing that we would be gone for 1.15 hours she made the call quickly in the morning and her 'partner' came to deliver food and had some hand holding + giggles at my gate. Quickly she ate sneakily, not knowing that my doorbell camera was also recording and she threw away the evidence quickly so that we would not question it. Integrity and respect are non-existent for her, she has a proper family in Malaysia with 3 kids and husband but has affair(s) in Singapore (which concludes why her pickup point in Singapore was at a sleazy but not cheap Orchard Hotel).

End of the day, she is not here to earn an honest living, neither is she here to take good care of infant babies, she is here to stay rent free, eat delicious seafood and take advantage of all our commodities while earning and exorbitant amount as compared to her days in JB. Her intentions when conversing on the phone with future prospect are always condescending, devious and not sincere, it's all about money, staying rent free, getting good rooms, places to stay and often swapping with friends to get a better priced deal (witness first-hand).

My wife and I heard of Hua Jie through extended friends in early 2024 and placed a deposit early to secure a nanny.

Nearing our delivery date ~Oct/Nov 2024 we saw a negative review by violetray (link below) regarding this nanny but we brushed it away as:
A) it was so close to our delivery month and we did not think we could find another confinement nanny easily + not sure of other options. Agency nannies are abit more expensive as well
B) did not want to forfeit our deposit.

We were hoping that the experience Violetray had was an outlier of the usual experience but we were things went downhill really fast.

Main complaints:
1) Knowledge gap + Dishonesty
When asking things that were beyond her scope of knowledge, will try to "smoke" us with grossly untrue things, for example:

I) baby refusing to take BM or formula and extremely fussy etc.
- said that baby is going through her milk refusal period ?!?!

II) Constipation is common for babies exclusively on breast milk - FALSE
Breastmilk acts as a natural laxative.

If she doesn't know she should just advise us that she is not sure instead of giving us false info like this.
Luckily my wife and I come from healthcare related profession so we know that the information she gave us feels completely off.

2) Attitude
Started off courteous and friendly for the initial week. Then started to be more aloof and indifferent as her stay progressed.

I) Will be very impatient when feeding baby especially during night times.
We latch baby first and inform her when we are ready for her to help bottle feed baby our stored breadt milk so that she has more time to rest. But when she feed baby she will force the teat in and shake baby excessively.

After bottle force feeding my baby she will hand back an actively awake baby to my wife who is still pumping her breast milk. So my wife has still has to soothe baby to sleep even after finishing pumping her milk.

II) asked me to buy new 2.5L kettle to boil water to cook the herbal bath for my wife so she can one shot cook the whole bath when we have a working 1.2L kettle that is brand new in the room itself.
- refused to do this and told her we can just use the existing kettle twice to achieve the same effect.
Ended up she used one of our soup pots to cook the herbal bath instead.

III) not proactive in teaching parents. Just do for you and expect you to learn by observing only.

3) Wasteful with ingredients
Made 2-3 trips every week to the market to buy ingredients.
Each purchase was around 200-300sgd initially then started ramping up towards the later half of the month she stayed with us.

Initially was cooking extra meals for my parents as well so the additional costs to feed 4-5 pax (my parents me and my wife + her) were very reasonable.
But my parents eventually decided not to be included as they do not eat as much.
She cooks 2-3dishes most meals with 1 soup (either lunch or dinner).
The wife has an extra soup on the meals that did not include the soup she cooked but this is a pre-prepared soup bag that we already bought and she just needs to boil.

Toward the end we were spending nearly 400sgd for each grocery run eventhough less people were eating? When I asked how come she needs so much ingredients and costs so much she said the 400 included some of my mum's stuff.
I actually accompanied her and my mum during this particular grocery run and noted that we scanned all my mum's things (snacks etc) first and it only amounts to 30-40sgd.

After I questioned her regarding the above she never asked me again to get groceries instead opting to go through my mum instead so the later grocery bills I don't even have a definite value.
reasons for getting new supplies given to my mum: vegetable has frozen in the fridge and cannot be used ?!?! This is for vegetables put into cold section not freezer.

Also noted by my mother - leftovers from the day she cooked being thrown out immediately.

Also noted my wife's milo gao kosong down to last satchet within 1 week of her stay.
- just bought and opened 1 full pack and made 1 satchet before she was admitted to hospital
My parents and I don't touch my wife's milo.
She also told us to buy milo to boost my wife's BM production but always only bring longan tea up for my wife, meanwhile the milo only continues to disappear.

4) Gossip
Talked about Violetray's experience but from her POV within her first week of coming to our household.

This should have been a redflag in hindsight but we persisted cause we were hopeful and she honestly wasnt so bad initially.

5) Not worth what you pay for

Definitely overcharging for her services.
Charged us 5.5k for 1st month as it was initially projected to extend through CNY period. (PH surcharge) which we thought was fair.
4.2k for 2nd month which is also around market rate for freelance nanny.

Ended up we terminated her before CNY.
Also told her within 1st week of her stay that we do not want to extend to 2nd month.

On the final day of her stay still insist that we need to pay 5.5k total for first month even though it did not include CNY period??
Then cites the extra was because of lost income from cancelling the 2nd month.- we gave early notice though??

Overall her duties were expected to be caring for my wife and baby - food, clothing, sheer etc. Ensuring that my wife's recovery is good and smooth and she has enough rest.
- can confidently say she only achieved less than half of her duties.

My wife is still tired and does not have much sleep due to needing to put baby to sleep.
We also have a maid that helps a lot with cleaning up the crockery that she uses for cooking. So she has more time to look after my wife and kid.

If this is the standard of service for a confinement nanny. I might as well just order pre-prepared meals i.e. tianwei. And hire a helper
Overall costs also cheaper that way.

I'm sure some people will say why didn't we change sooner if our experience was bad.
1) some help is still better than no help. Not saying that everyday was terrible but for what we paid for we were expecting more.

2) we do not know many other nannies. It is very hard to find one almost immediately and there will always be doubt now that we experienced one that has good and bad reviews about her. There is a chance the next nanny will be worse than her. + all out efforts are on baby and mummy we don't have the time to research another nanny.

Takeaway points for people reading this:
1) Please take all negative reviews seriously - if they can do it once to someone else they can do it to you too. Deposit is painful to part with but will save you the heartache and headache to follow.

2) set clear goals and expectations with the nanny before you engage her.
So she knows what you expect and you can clearly tell them if you feel you are being shortchanged.

I'm here to warn y'all to be cautious when hiring freelance confinement nanny.
I'm unlucky to get a lazy, liar, stubborn, unhygienic and abusive one.
In fact on her first day here, she had already started lying. She was supposed to be here in the afternoon, as I had informed her that I'll be discharged from hospital at 11am and ne home by latest 1pm. She arrived at 6pm, and lie to my hubby that she arrived for quite some time but couldn't find our unit!
Things she did that I couldn't accept:-
1. Tapping, twist and turn the milk bottle when my newborn is drinking.
2. Leave NB on sofa to sleep when I told her not to.
3. Attempt to feed NB water
4. Attempt to give brand new pacifier to NB without washing and boiling in hot water.
5. Forcefully push pacifier into NB mouth when he doesn't want it.
6. Give NB the same pacifier without washing after he push out of his mouth.
7. Washing a few pcs of clothing every single day. (Refuse to hand wash when I told her to.)
8. Never wash teat after it dropped into the basin.
9. Never wash utensils before use.
10. Always leave electric switch on after use.
11. Accuse /talk bad about me behind my back.
12. Act like a nice nanny when other relative are here but once they leave, her true color will come out.
13. Doesn't feed NB on time/when he's hungry. (Causing his jaundice not able to reduce!)
14. Throw NB into his carrier (with frame support below)!

Just wanted to warn about a confinement nanny to avoid

Dishonest nanny

Name: Woon Lxxx Mxx, goes by the name 珍珍 珍姐

We had engaged her months prior and paid $800 deposit , which to our understanding is quite steep.

We had let her know our delivery date few days in advance as soon as we knew (mine was an induction delivery)

However , she eventually told us she could not turn up for the first day of work. Hence we discharged with no one to help us on the first day. Her excuse to us was that she was not feeling well. When my mother in law spoke to her, she let it slip that she had gone back to hometown for Qing Ming

She also turned up late in the afternoon on the 2nd day.

She also pre empted us many times she might need to go home if she was not feeling well. Also refused to give us her passport details for us to apply work permit for her. We had asked her multiple times even before her arrival , she eventually only agreed on the 3rd day of work….

Subsequently, she only worked for 9.5 days before saying that she needed to return to hometown in Msia for 10 days before she could come back. Her excuse to me was that she needed to see a doctor for gastric issues or swallowing difficulties. We offered for her to see a polyclinic doctor but she declined then changing her excuse to say she needed to see a heart specialist as she was a heart patient. It didn’t explain why she needed 10 days off.

She said her cousin would work for her in her place. Told us to give her half the salary and she will pay her cousin then she will collect the other half when she returns!

She also kept asking us for baby particulars , for our car plate numbers to buy 4D. It did not make us feel comfortable

Subsequently, we managed to find a replacement nanny. On her day of departure , we told her that there is no need for her or her cousin to come.
She then demanded 10 days of salary even though she only really worked 9.5days. Technically she left at 10am.

Even lied to us saying her cousin’s transport could not be cancelled. (This is not true as we are also familiar with the mode of transport they come by)

When our new nanny arrived, we also found that this 珍姐 was not as meticulous.

Would only shower the baby once a day, also gave our baby a diaper rash just in 2 days of her arriving
Also she even went to buy a pacifier on her own although we told her that we were very against it!
Worst of all, she even poked a hole in the avent natural response slow flow bottle teats without letting us know. This was made known to us by the new nanny after she observed how the bottle teat was leaking

Dear all, pls beware of this Confinement Nanny from Malaysia. She is freelancer now and is always on adhoc jobs other that full month confinement nanny.

#1 - Sick. Having bad cough since 1st day and she did not inform beforehand. Our agreement was if she is sick, she will get another nanny to take over but she did not. Both me and toddler got sick few days later until now. Several reminder for her to wear mask.

#2 - Always on phone 24/7 when carrying & feeding baby, cooking etc.

#3 - Not very professional. Baby poop not clean properly. Was pointed out by baby doctor visits

#4 - Bad attitude. Unable to take comments Said she can end her last day immediately when I ask her if she behaves the same using phone all day in other employment which she said yes and it is very common practice among her nanny peers.

#5 - wasteful. Waste water like free flow when washing plates or bottles.

#6 - Lazy. Told her if the night feed are hectic then my helper can help with the washing and she just hands off totally when night feeds became so much more manageable.

#7 - Rude. When she first came already told her which day can wash clothes which doesn’t clash with my home schedule. Then she use my washing machine to wash without asking and gave alot of excuses. I will gladly allow if she ask before use.

I supposed she have secured other jobs as I overheard her talking on the phone yesterday night when feeding my baby. This morning she was having a long call as well when she supposed to be settling my confinement stuff.

Keep asking us to go and buy her stuffs- all the ready items at home she don’t wanna use keep want us to follow her way and waste money
Not following us to hospital for baby jaundice, wanna rest at home
Not good at cooking, keep repeating the same dishes
Need to use a lot of plastic container for marinating meat and not mention to us before
Change 3 times a day clothes and washing machine never stop working
Cooking using a lot of oil and cooking more than 2 person portion hard to finish

1. 危险- 好几次开最大火，跑去房间看baby 后睡觉，有一次还烧干了锅

5. 每天都一样的煮法和调味，还有臭油味，会花很多时间花在厨房煮她自己吃的东西

7.除了煮饭其他时间一直在房间做自己私人的事，要不然睡大觉（叫不醒的那种）
8. 态度极度器张，自夸自己很专业很多人抢着要，问一些东西会翻白眼回答，而且会带着极为大声和不友善的语气

用后感想：还有很多东西可以吐槽，以为加价请个金牌月嫂，应该很有经验处事应该很让人放心，殊不知…骗人

i there, just sharing my very bad experience with this confinement nanny named Chua Kam Thai (also go by the name Aunty Grace) who was supposed to be with us for 4 months. She was here with us for 3 months and started showing her true colors later on. Before she came over, kept bragging about her experiences and how well she knows how to take care of baby. However when she joined, she started to increase my infant's formula milk feed from ~40-50ml all the way to 100ml within 1 week. That started causing the baby to suffer from reflux even until now. We even sought help from multiple different pediatricians who all mentioned there was overfeeding of the baby and we needed to cut down the volume. After that we tried to communicate the feeding volume and frequency with her but despite all these she still kept feeding the baby small volumes ~30ml between supposed feeding time cause she said she couldn't manage the baby. So on month 2 we told her to drop the cooking and just focus on taking care of the baby. We then started to realize a whole slew of bad habits she had - constantly closing the baby room door to 'put the baby to sleep', using phone while carrying the baby, sleeping with the earphones on where sometimes she doesn't even realize the baby has cried and kept being skeptical of the baby monitor saying she's being monitored despite us having the output shown on a public screen in the living room. She even complained about the aircon temperature saying she's not used to the temperature even though it's our baby who needs the cooling temperature. Afterwards we were arranging for a maid to settle in and told her some of the house rules to follow and guess what... few days later after receiving her salary she just disappeared saying she needs to buy something and left for 2 hours. When we contacted her, she suddenly claim that we haven't been treating her well and wanted to quit. This is despite us always remember to buying food/drinks for her, getting my parents to help during daytime so she can do other necessary chores and even kept letting her go out for her personal matters (draw money, meet friend for meal, complete PR application). At the point of leaving, she still cursed my parents (mind you they were already 60s and 70s who can be considered her senior) and was extremely rude.

In addition, she's got a very bad case of paranoia where she claimed the motion sensors around the house are cameras to track her when in fact it is not true (there aren't any cameras other than the baby monitor installed). She also claimed that we hacked into her phones, downloaded her data and installed some form of tracking software which is completely nonsensical. She's also made up a number of false stories and went to the extent of making police reports.

What we do suspect is that as the baby has grown a lot in weight (6KG at 3 months), she's unable to manage anymore - keeps complaining about the baby waking up at night and that she can't carry the baby well while standing. Also as the baby was 3 months old, there was sleep regression kicking in which was likely affecting her sleep. However she went to the extent of creating a big hoo-haa to get to her means which is really unethical.

Be warned about this confinement nanny and I strongly discourage anyone to engage her! Engage her at your own risk!

Had a bad experience with this confinement nanny. Placed deposit and did not turn up to work, furthermore she blocked my number and remain uncontactable till date. She is a total scam, fellow mummies pls be wary!

First confinement with PEM, I changed 3 nannies. Second confinement with Confinement Angels (CA), changed 3 nannies again! I am so unlucky!
Thought that CA with all the advertisement and reviews from insta, I should have a good confinement this time… but I gave up to complete my confinement because I was so tired to handle those bad nannies and agents…
As I had a super bad experience with PEM, and tired of keep changing nannies during the 28 days, CA assured me that getting 3 stars (Elite) nannies will solve my problem. Of course, pay more for that…and I did. So, I requested profiles of nannies before she arrived. But they only give me one and only. Said the rest was engaged.
The first nanny CA189.
1. Sara pretended to be clean and wipe the luggage and shower when she arrived. She was nice and always put on smiles, she is patient with my baby. But it lasts for a few days and soon I realised she had been acting being hygienic in front of me. But then she put my baby’s towel on the toilet bowl cover during shower ! My baby havnt even taken the ROTAVIRUS immunisation. Handkerchief dropped on the floor and she used it to wipe my baby’s mouth, sometimes she is lazy she just wash (with few seconds) my baby’s milk bottle and put all in the basin. Basin is very dirty with all the bacteria from dirty water, raw meats/ food, leftover food etc… she doesn’t know that? Baby’s teats are directly contaminated with the basin.
2. After I told her she has to put in the dish tub specifically for washing milk bottles, she washed the milk bottle using the steel bowl that I defrost and washed my raw meats! Sara will wash my baby milk bottle at night because helper was resting. It was so dangerous as my baby might get contaminated by the bacteria from raw meats! We had evidence from cctv, she only rinse the steel bowl and did not sterilised/ use soap. She also anyhow washed, always did not clean properly (with milk stains on it) and push the blame to my helper and claimed it was washed by my helper. She thought my cctv is spoilt and I won’t find out🙄
3. She prepares my lunch and dinner since morning. She would prepare the all the meats for the day and fried first. then portion out for my lunch, afternoon break, and dinner. All the meats/ pork are Work-In-Process and keep for later to heat up or stir fried for me. By the time I eat them, the meats are already turn taste. Especially for dinner. All the nutrients are gone and meats turn bad. 变质了！eat until I want to vomit. When I asked her why the taste like that, she said that it was newly bought and all very fresh. (As for the first few days, I hardly walk and don’t go to kitchen to check (outside also has strong wind), I always stay in my room.) I also trust her and so didn’t question anymore.
4. Initially I thought she does not have time to prepare so she prepare early, however, my baby always sleep, and all the house chores are done by my helper. (baby’s and mummy’s clothes, baby’s milk bottles, cleaning kitchen after cook, washing plates, etc. are done by my helper.) Sara always ask my helper to do all her work. So she actually has a lot of time ! But she always said she was very busy. Even my mother in law was saying don’t know what she was doing, just walking up and down and looked very busy, but productivity was low. Yes, I agree she might be experienced, but she is cutting shortcuts and when we are not looking. She is 老油条！
5. She marinated the minced pork and freeze in a big container (can be use for 3-4 days) then she always defrost, take some, freeze again. The next day, defrost, take some again. We already specifically told her to pack into 1 serving portion. But everything we bought, she just slot them in freezer without packing.
6. Same goes to the pork rib, she already cooked! But she still took some to freeze it again! For what?! I really didn’t know why… maybe she realise the portion is too big for me, so she secretly keeps some in the freezer. Then if my MIL didn’t check, she will cook for me again? Because both she and my helper don’t eat meat!
7. worse, she caused me to having terrible diarrhea because she gave me 2.5h long-formula to drink. As I told her, baby drink formula during jaundice period, and because my baby only drink 60-80ml of formula, we can only make 2 scoops (50ml per scoop) = 100ml. So there is always left over. I don’t want to waste it, so I told Sara to give me the left over formula (within 1h). However, after 2.5h, she realised baby didn’t drink the formula, so she gave it to me. I drank it without checking initially. Then after drinking it, I look at the time, it was already 2h+ apart. That night, I started to feel uncomfortable and always go to the toilet for the next 3 days. What if my baby drink it and the consequences will be my baby vomits and be hospitalised! I am a mummy who is recovering from delivery, and I was breastfeeding somemore!
8. She always has excuses to not give me what I want. For example, I ask for fish soup, with fish meat given to me. But she will say that fish has a lot of small bones, I cannot eat. She said she would smash and squeeze out the soup for me. I told her I want to drink pork tripe chicken soup(猪肚鸡汤）, because it helps me to get more breast milk. She would say eat pork tripe is not good for me… for all my herbal soup, she said she use 龙骨to cook, then the meats not nice to eat, don’t give me. She said she will change to 小排/瘦肉，but then she didn’t even give me for once. There is one time she said she cook black chicken herbal soup for me, then I insist on eating the black chicken, she initially told me, the meat is not nice after cooking soup, but I told her I still want to eat, give me the thigh. Out of all the the chicken she cooked, she take one thigh for me and I told her where is the rest, she said only one thigh. She only use one thigh to cook 2-meals soup?! I could not trust her anymore because I don’t know what she said was truth.
9. I told her I don’t want oily meat, my helper will cut away the fats before cooking. But it does not mean I don’t eat the meat! She later will say it is fats, cannot eat. It is chunky, not nice to eat. It is blah blah blah, cannot eat.
10. I don’t know why this kind of nanny can be 3 stars elite…
There goes 2nd nanny, CA268.
I only found out that Ai Lik finished her last assignment on 7th and come to my house on 8th. Because of that, whatever I asked her to do and she gives me the look she is not willing, as if those are extra work. I said each meal I eat 3 dishes + soup. Most of the work is done by my helper. And she “oh… you eat so much ah?” Hello? Is she first time doing confinement job? Does not know mummy has to eat balance nutrition? She keep comparing her last assignment with me, said the mummy don’t even eat breakfast. Lunch also only eat fried bee Hoon/ fried noodles / fried rice/ porridge. This is the first time I heard confinement mummy don’t eat breakfast, eat only fried noodles/bee Hoon for lunch. 😂
She even tells me that if my helper handles all the jobs (washing mummy and baby’s clothes, clean kitchen etc) then she can cook for her. Sorry, we don’t need her to cook for helper/ my family. My helper can cook for herself.
The first day already tell me she don’t do this / that, said she first time handle “China Chinese” family…. Cooking maybe different and she don’t know how to cook… Then ? She is just lazy. I hired her not to enjoy life here. She said in her previous assignment, she eats what mummy eats, She said she will eat fruits, fine, we will give her. But so lazy and don’t want to do work, want request so many things?
I asked her to call me during night to pump milk, she said mummy will wake up themselves, she only feed baby. 🫡 then I immediately ask her to go back since she is not helping at night.
3rd nanny, CA448.
Elaine is polite but slow in working. Yesterday she can cook from 11am to 1pm and then shower, she ate her lunch, 2-4:17pm she rest, and wake up prepare dinner…. But I only ate my dinner at 6:30pm…. 4:17 to 7pm she was cooking and shower. I don’t think it is hard to cook vege and steam fish. 猪脚醋 can be easily cook from my pressure cooker…. From 11am to 7pm, she didn’t take care of my baby. I wonder why should I hired her if cooking can be done by my helper? She wake up at 8+ and my breakfast was cooked by my helper despite I told nanny to cook for me.
She said she will improve, then I gave her chances. She even ask me to buy ready-packed food and rendang sauce, curry, chilli etc. Are these for me or herself? During midnight, she was using her phone which I am totally fine. But what I dislike is that, when I wake up to see my baby cause he is whining, nanny quickly put down her phone and pretend to sleep…. She just ignore my baby… 😂 I had enough already, I m too tired for all these… I m not going to continue bad confinement that I ever had. 有这些烦心事我还不如不坐月子，更开心，还不会产后抑郁，还得feedback 写给你们事情的经过… 但是一点措施也不采取，更糟糕是还理直气壮说月嫂怎么样和公司无关，是月嫂的责任。 太累了！！！
Nanny team did not even filter the nanny for clients! Before we signed the package, they ask for our requirement and said will best match, but little did we realised, it is just acting. They would randomly send the available nanny. Elite nanny is not elite standard. Those who want to engage CA, choose wisely.

Review of a CL we employed in 2024. Mdm Wong Suey Hw* (Hua Jie). We do not recommend her services to anyone.

She left on the last week of our confinement after I confronted her with the crockery she broke. She never owned up to her mistakes. She claimed I shouted at her (while my tone was firm, I did not raise my voice at her). Said the trust in the working relationship was broken and she cannot carry on. She claimed that she wanted to leave on day 2 but she never told us that (we still don't know the reason and believe she was stirring shit. She claimed she told my mother and my mother says this topic was never discussed). She also claimed that we picked on her and she did not provide specific examples - well as a FTM I struggled with sleep and breastfeeding, what benefits could I gain from picking on a short term hired help who was looking after my vulnerable child?

On day 1, she mentioned there may be a schedule clash for her next assignment since the mummy is due for early delivery. Coincidence? I honestly don't know. You decide.

Sure, it was gloom and doom when she left. Less than a day later, our families and us found ourselves to be much happier without her around. Turns out the entire family, including our parents, who do not stay with us, dislike her. Guests have also commented that she is extremely unfriendly.

The good:
1. Did not complain about doing the night shift
2. Does the tasks assigned to her (we did not assign her the full suite of her responsibilities. We did our own laundry, did not task her with sweeping and moping, and I only showered on alternate days. Also, she did not need to prepare breakfast for me and she NEVER offered even while I went into the kitchen as she was making her fancy French toast; she ate three slices for breakfast).

The bad (with notable examples):
1. Poor attitude
- Showed us a different attitude in my mil's presence on day 1. Was extremely courteous and helpful. This faded right on day 2 when mil did not visit.
- Aggressively dragged me out of the nursery while baby was fussing to count the quantity of chicken pieces she cooked. She cooked nine pieces for just two of us, along with other dishes. Poor attitude aside, how to finish? Plot twist - she did not finish the chicken. (surprise surprise!)
- Snapped at us and our parents on numerous occasions. We always addressed her Hwa Jie/Auntie when we spoke to her. Our parents are older than her.
- Refused to teach & poor display of PR skills to employer. Would constantly say "don't ask me, he is not my child".
- Made insensitive remarks about my breastfeeding journey as if it was not distressing enough. Loudly commented that my breastmilk is watery to our parents as a reason for poor satiety. Checked in with IBCLC - there is no such issue.

2. No respect of our personal items at home
- Broke 3 crockery items. When confronted, she blamed my mum and several stationary objects.

3. Extremely wasteful
- She finished a 5kg bag of rice in 2 weeks. For context, I eat a quarter bowl each meal and >50% of the meals were cooked for just the two of us; my husband rarely ate in. I frequently saw uneaten premium ingredients in the trash.
- Other consumables were consumed at an alarming rate.
- Insisted on buying certain ingredients when I repeatedly mentioned that I do not eat those foods.

4. Nosy
- Tried to gossip about us with my mum.
- Told us unsolicited information about our friend's family, who happened to employ her contact as their CL.

5. Greedy
- Took our generosity for granted. Never thanked us whenever we offered her a snack. Her response was always "orh" or "mmm".
- Made frequent snack requests to my mum.

6. Dishonest
- Got defensive when my mother asked about the rate of consumption of our fish. Claimed she did not eat them. She lied. She hid the fish under copious amounts of vegetables in her bowl. It's ok to eat. It is not OK to be defensive and lie.

Hi, a warning to all mummies if encounter this confinement lady (Name: Liew Swee Wah, phone no.: +60 10-373 6944), PLEASE AVOID AT ALL COST. She fell asleep and dropped my 1.5month baby girl on the floor from the bed during the 42 days confinement period. Head back side direct on the floor. Fortunately, my baby is fine after all the checks. I have immediately sacked her and reduced her time of service. I have already warned her many times on the way she carried the baby (support only on the shoulder) and also to let the baby in the cot if feeling sleepy. Completely ignored my advise many times due to stubborness and eventually things happened. My wife and I suffered throughout the confinement period with this lady.
1. Making inconsistent remarks on baby feeding times all the time. Doesn't seem to remember things. Always tried to lie so that can feed the baby earlier. Her honesty is always in question.
2. Always overfeeding baby. Sometimes less than 1hr! And i can see the baby is pushing the bottle away already but she insisted the baby wanted more milk. Very frustrating. Now that we parents took over, baby seemed to be a lot calmer with feeding time.
3. Playing with phone while feeding the baby. Always too engross onto the phone and at times forgot to check the baby's condition. Noticed many times that baby already vomitted some milk but completely ignored.
4. Bad time management. At times, I need to wake her up in the morning to start preparing breakfast for my wife.
5. Sleeping while holding baby. So dangerous! Kept telling her that she should not do this and kept telling me that she's not sleeping, she's just closing her eyes and singing in her heart.
Again, always lying and not admitting to fault.
Hope that this info could get across to all mummies and do not suffer the same faith as my wife and I if by any chance you encounter her.

Sorry to hear that you’ve had a bad experience with your confinement nanny. We’re so in a similar situation. Last week, we fired our confinement nanny, Lim Ah Moy, after working with her for 12 days. We realized that she was not suitable for our household.

We are sharing our experience with her in the hope that others can benefit from it and avoid similar nannies in the future.

Our experience with Mdm Lim began in 2022 when we were expecting a child in June 2023. A good friend recommended Mdm Lim, who had provided excellent service to them and even extended her services for another month. We paid a $800 deposit to secure her availability in June, with an agreed salary of $4000.

Unfortunately, the pregnancy ended prematurely, and we requested that Mdm Lim return our deposit. To our dismay, she informed us that the money had already been spent by her family and suggested considering it as a deposit for our next pregnancy. Although this was unacceptable, we had little recourse to recover the amount, so we reluctantly agreed.

Later on, my wife became pregnant again for January 2024. We contacted Mdm Lim once we knew the estimated due date to engage her services. However, she repeatedly asked for an advance or additional deposit every 1-2 months, all of which we declined.

In December, she sent us pictures of her granddaughter in the hospital and attempted to obtain an additional $1000 on top of the $800 deposit we had already paid, claiming that her family needed the money. We firmly refused this request as it was unacceptable since she had not yet provided any services.

During her time with us, she insisted on preparing frozen roti prata, kway tiao, and bee hoon for my wife's breakfast. I advised her that my wife should consume more nutrient-dense foods, but she disregarded my suggestion. I later realized that the requested foods were the ones she wanted to eat, not those beneficial for my wife's postpartum recovery.

Mdm Lim frequently boasted about her cooking skills, claiming that her previous clients were all impressed with her food. However, we found her cooking to be severely disappointing. She frequently made soups like corn soup (ABC soup) and herbal black chicken soup, both of which were boiled for only an hour and lacked flavor. The final straw was when she served us sesame chicken that was raw on the inside, which posed a serious health risk to my wife. Additionally, her steamed fish was consistently undercooked or overcooked.

We were also very disappointed with the way she cared for our child. Despite her years of experience, she held our baby over her shoulder with one hand supporting the baby's butt, which was unnecessary and endangered the baby. My in-laws witnessed this and reprimanded her. She responded by telling my in-laws that she was merely "tolerating the next 28 days and then she would be off," which greatly alarmed us.

While at my in-laws, she refused to cook at my in-laws claiming that she had marinated pork for us. However, she ended up making fried rice with chorizo she found in the fridge (processed pork is not particularly suitable for postpartum recovery).

On one occasion when my wife had a friend over, she casually asked Mdm Lim if a cup of red date tea on the table belonged to her. This innocent question triggered an angry outburst from Mdm Lim, who claimed that she would not eat food that did not belong to her (even though she had been eating our food for the past two weeks) before storming off. We fired her the next day. (and paid her prorated for the days she worked + booked a hotel room for her for the night)

We wanted to share our experience with the community to prevent others from making the same mistake as us. We strongly urge you to interview your confinement nanny thoroughly to ensure a good fit.

fired confinement nanny after 12 days, several issues

1. money problems - keeps bugging us for advance/more deposit
2. food unacceptable - raw chicken and overcooked/undercooked fish, water tasteless soup
3. reckless with handling our kid
4. angry outburst at wife = immediate termination

I engaged STAR confinement in Jan’21. Due to Covid & CNY, we paid ~$5k hoping to have a restful recovery.
However, we had very bad experience:
- On Day 1, I told nanny I would like to bf my baby & share the baby room with her (2 single beds + 1 baby cot). But she rejected me stating that she’s not comfortable sharing the room & refused to let me bf my baby at night. She insisted us to buy fm for her to feed baby at night. We had to rush out that night to buy fm. As I’m not allowed to bf baby at night, I woke up every 2-hrs to pump to avoid clogging, then washed my pumps & bottles for the next pumping session, 3-4x a night.
- During the day, I would nurse my baby. Baby would latch to sleep & once I put her down, she would cry. Nanny never offered to take over baby from me during the day, claiming that I want to bf. Instead, she hid in the spare room in my kitchen all day long voice texting. While I carried baby all day long from 7am to 7pm. She cooked only breakfast, lunch & dinner, no morning tea, no afternoon tea even after I requested. She never stepped out of the kitchen except for her afternoon nap. She spent all day just to cook me 3 meals, I could have just ordered confinement meals.
- A few days later, we realised she always batch cooked rice for lunch & dinner. She kept the rice cooker warmed all day. We requested her to cook fresh rice for dinner & cook enough for lunch. She obliged for a few days but went back to cooking whole batch of rice for lunch & dinner again subsequently.
- I also realised she boiled red date soup before bedtime & kept it warm for the rest of the night & served me the next day. I asked if the soup should be boiled the next early morning for fresh soup instead of overnight drinks, but she insisted “This is the way it should be”.
- During my bath time, she poured hot water into the pail with the herbal pack in. I asked if she could boil the herbal pack & water together instead, she told me “No need, it works the same”. I never had boiled herbal water for bath at all.
- One day we walked pass her room & saw her sipping my confinement soup in a big bowl. We weren’t sure if this is the norm, so we reached out to agent privately to ask. A while later, she stomp out & said she would quit if we are unhappy & claimed that the other 2 mothers she served prior to me allowed her to drink. But a while later, she said let’s just forget about this & move on. We were overwhelmed with new parents challenges & did not manage to digest this.
- In the contract, nanny could help wiping the floor 1-2x a week but she didn’t after 3 weeks, so we asked if she could help to wipe the floor. She was in total disbelief & did it unwillingly.
- She damaged all our non-stick cookware. The kitchen was in total mess while she's here & after she left. We had to do a deep cleaning.
I conceived my firstborn naturally without any difficulty within 5 months. I have not been able to conceive again although trying for ~2 years now. I tend to think that my body is not conditioned to get pregnant again due to my terrible confinement experience.

I’m a first time mom and recently delivered a baby girl in May. I unfortunately went through a horrible and stressful period with my confinement nanny and wanted to highlight to all to avoid.

Her name is Miki Lee- there are already some bad reviews on her on this forum (refer to 2014 posts for eg) which I regret not reading before confirming her as my nanny.

She is stuck in her own ways and would not respect any of the decisions we made for our own child. She constantly discouraged my breastfeeding efforts and made me feel very demoralized when I was still trying to establish my milk supply. She was very rough with my baby and would make her cry when wiping her. She claims to have experience with 240 babies yet she doesn’t seem to be able to soothe my baby at all or handle her crying. Yet when she’s trying to make my baby sleep she talks on the phone loudly at the same time - many times she’s actually scolding or having an argument with another person while putting my baby to sleep.

She also destroyed a few items in my home including my kitchen counter, kitchen utensils , sink tap…

She’s also a huge complainer, complaining about everything in the house.

She was a very unpleasant person to have in the house and we ultimately decided that any help we received from her wasn’t worth the additional stress from dealing with her and terminated her services early.

Please avoid

This company fails in their duty of care to check the quality of the nannies in their team and neglects to seek feedback from the mummy to address serious issues.
I experienced hell with both the first AND second (replacement) nannies. I’m writing a review here as the feedback form from the company that was supposed to be provided was never even sent to me.
The first nanny had several issues, but the worst was her appalling hygiene. Whenever I checked, baby’s clothes were almost always smeared with a lot of poop or pus, but she would still continue to button him up and swaddle him to hide the stains. Moreover, we have a container that we use to wash baby’s butt, and she kept using water from it (that was not changed) to wipe baby’s mouth. Additionally, she kept leaving dirty wipes smeared with poop all over his cot and changing table instead of throwing it in the bin. Furthermore, the kitchen was always left in a very dirty and unwashed state after she used it, and the last straw was when I suffered food poisoning.
The replacement nanny was a nightmare with many complex issues. The worst of which, was when she theatrically held my baby as a “hostage” over a non-issue and not letting me take baby, while speaking to me aggressively. Basically, she wanted to “establish territory” all the time and demand her way in everything. She was exceptionally lazy, and did not want to change baby’s diaper on an as-needed basis (she wanted the diaper to be really full before changing, instead of changing it after every poop). She got upset at me for changing baby’s diapers myself (I had to as she left baby to lie in his soiled diapers!) and flatly refused to boil herbal bath water or red dates tea for me. She even lied to my MIL that I had given instructions that I did not want to bathe in herb water or drink red dates tea. This was in spite of the fact that she did not even have to cook as confinement food was by now catered for me (I was traumatised after the food poisoning). She spent the majority of her time sleeping and on the phone, cocooned in the duvet with air-con switched on day and night.
I am truly disappointed and frustrated with the irresponsible behaviour of the company and the nannies. Even though I had shelled out extra for an experienced nanny, I was sent nannies who were obviously inexperienced and did not match the standards that they were advertised for (I am not a first-time mother). There was sadly no peace nor rest during my confinement, and I was ironically less stressed when the confinement nannies left.

Gotten a so called senior confinement nanny, C**** from CA a few days ago to do my confinement for me. Apparently she has several good reviews on Google. But the service I have gotten is terrible. Here is a list of her so called good services.
1. Never wipe baby during diaper change. I was informed that only poop need wiping. She also never apply baby bottom balm on him. Now his private parts is red with some rashes. No washing of hands after diaper change and she proceed to feed baby milk.
2. Never wash baby mouth nor did she ask us to provide her with the required tools for washing of baby’s mouth.
3. Never apply lotion to whole of baby’s body after bathing. She only do the neck part after we requested her to use the lotion and my baby’s skin is so very dry.
4. We requested for her to turn on the aircon for baby as he was swaddled and hot. She says okay then after we left she turned off aircon and use the fan at its lowest setting blowing at the wall. This is Singapore and recently the weather is very hot these days.
5. Instead of turning on the air purifier, she use the power to charge her phone and night light (we did provide her with a portable battery operated one).
6. She thawed raw meat directly beside my baby bottles with the bottles facing the raw meat itself (this is the last straw).
7. I was informed by my mother-in-law that she never clean the pots and pans well and my mother-in-law has to rewash them.
8. She precooked pork ribs and freeze them and served them to me for subsequent meals in my soups and tell my mother-in-law not to let me know about this.
9. My mil and I got a stomach upset from yesterday night and I am not sure if it is due to point 8 above.
10. She wash baby’s bottles by adding liquid soap directly to the bottles instead of diluting them in the water and use that to wash the bottles.
Besides the above, there are also some minor issues like placing e red date tea on my dinning table for me to take instead of serving to me in my room so I have to walk in and out of my room each time I finish my drink. Serving me overnight red date tea from yesterdays leftover which I just notice this morning(she was boiling a new pot on the stove and emptying out the old one into my thermos). Never serve me any drink for breakfast and no fruits for lunch and dinner. Not sure if these are under personal preferences though.
My CA liaise, L**** is totally unsympathetic about this issue. And she even suggested that I hear a few issues (which is actually just point 7 and point 8 from my mother-in-law and didn’t see them for myself (please the precooked meat is in my freezer). My husband wasn’t around recently so it is only me and my mother-in-law. I have already tried my best to observe her but seriously I hired her and paid more for a senior nanny to do my confinement and now I am feeling sick(stomach upset and wound aching from standing and observing the nanny) due to all these issues.
All these made me so worried as now the adults are the one suffering from stomach upset due to hygiene lapse of the nanny. But she is also taking care of my newborn and he is only a few days old and can’t afford a stomach upset.
Currently they will be replacing the nanny for us and i will be updating here again about the new replacement.
