Baby Whisperer is the stuff that gives confinement agencies a bad reputation.
Even though I had a good experience with another agency in my first pregnancy, I decided to give them a shot as they were able to guarantee my chosen nanny in advance, with the promise that she would be eventually assigned to me. I’d highlighted then that it was very important that I was able to pre-select the nanny of my choice.
In early Jan, just slightly over a month before my EDD on 10 Feb, I contacted them saying I’ll likely be due 2-3 weeks earlier, and asked if my nanny would be available in that case. Terry reassured me that she would, and that her assignment would end in 3 weeks. He also said that they would inform me in advance if she wasn’t available.
When I finally contacted Terry again on 28 Jan saying I’ll need the nanny to start work on 1 Feb, he said that her assignment would end only on 11 Feb - which is a day after my EDD.
That’s completely unprofessional of them because the contract stated her start date would be on my EDD. Besides, most experienced confinement agencies would know that for second pregnancies the likelihood of an earlier delivery is high, hence they shouldn’t have reassigned her a job that’s so close to my EDD, or one that ends after.
But the worst part of this ordeal is, not only did Terry not inform me in advance, he was rude and completely unapologetic, and provided multiple excuses denying the agency’s fault in causing an inconvenience. He insinuated that it was the nanny’s fault for ending her assignment early and insisting to be reassigned to another job.
I’ve since read from other reviews that it’s not the first time the Agency promised a confirmed nanny to a customer and eventually failed to deliver the same person without even giving any notice.
To all moms considering them, I would highly recommend that you save the headache and go with other better, more professional options in the market.
