PEM has failed time and again in our expectations of a highly reputable confinement agency said to be the best in Singapore.
Firstly, on the day i checked out of the hospital from birth, they sent an inexperienced nanny who decided to bath the baby in the late evening around 8pm. Furthermore, causing us much distress when she threw the baby into the bath water, which both my maid and my husband witnessed. She is also inexperienced in every sense, from not knowing anything about bathing, speaking or understanding basic instructions in english because during contract signing, it was obvious and mentioned to the agent sitting with us that my husband is a foreigner and my maid is a filipino, both of whom, english was their main language for communication, but the nanny being sent was utterly incapable of understanding english or given simple instructions in english.
She also failed terribly on how much milk in mili-litres to feed my 3 day old infant, siting an awfully wrong amount of 75ml formula milk which is far fetched from the correct amount of 20-25ml maximum per feed.
After my family discussed about her performance for that few hours of her being here with us, we decided to send her off at 7am the next morning for a new replacement nanny.
Furthermore, the nanny also demanded that we gave her the day's allowance, which my husband casually gave her $90 for less than a full day's work that morning when she left.
We only found out from PEM later that day, much to our shock, that despite the high seasonal rate during chinese new year period, her daily rate was only worth $45 for a full day's work which she did not even complete. We not only given her double of her day's worth (2 days work) but neither did she return us the excess cash nor bothered to call out the big difference received of the actual day's worth of work and just took off without a word.
It is no doubt that the nanny's intergrity, work ethics and experience were certainly all very questionable. And PEM should be held liable to share blame for possessing a pool of unchecked and unqualified nannies.
We are very disappointed with PEM, especially since we are already paying highly exhorbitant rates during the chinese new year period with consideration that we are under the impression that the agency's services and nannies should be of a decent standard but none of which was experienced by us.
Second complain was after the new nanny was sent to us. The agency argued that it is part of the contract that the admin fee of $100 to be charged to us for extension of her services over the inital confinement period of 28 days, I think as a reputable and claiming to be singapore's top confinement nanny agency, not forgetting the fact that after causing the family much distress on the 1st incompetent and dishonest nanny PEM has sent, the agency should be waiving this ridiculous cost or offering to absorb it rather than spelling out the contract to me which is not only very unprofessional but petty on your part.
The lady (Sharon Vaz) who was neither service oriented nor management representing in bringing forth such cold matter of factly citations from the contract over the phone.
No thanks for such lousy service, much to our dismay, seriously PEM should be doing and offering better than merely driving your nannies to our doorstep.
If this is your idea of the best confinement agency service company there is available in singapore, i believe it is only because PEM has by chance attained this reputation due to the lack of high standard competition in the industry. Not forgeting to mention, PEM has certainly failed terribly in any part to do with good service from our pespective, repeatedly.
