PEM’S CONFINEMENT NANNY WONG LI PING #362 – YOUR WORST NIGHTMARE

The above as quoted from PEM’s website is so true. However, if you are assigned a bad nanny, then your confinement period will be a nightmare, considering that you have to pay approximately S$900 to the agency for assigning a nanny on the day of discharge from hospital.
Unfortunately, I had a very bad experience with WONG LI PING #362 from PEM. If you have been assigned this nanny, please think twice about getting a replacement. She arrived late in the afternoon on the 1st day and we sent her off on the 4th day (i.e. fired with immediate effect and she left our place within 30 minutes).
Why? Cutting to the chase, the following are what we observed during her short stint:
1) Overall attitude – very bossy, she said we should trust her on the day she arrived and we should listen to her, but what she did was play on the phone all day on the sofa (candycrush; wechat; whatsapp, you name it), even hinted at us to put on movies for her to watch while she idles, sits on the dining table to dine with everyone when she should be looking after baby, so it became my hubby looking after baby and she dines with us, I had to ask her to please look after the baby first so that my hubby could eat with us. She also enjoys stomping around the house to make her presence known (or maybe showing that she is busy around the house). She has a bad body odour despite having to shower twice a day. Her room reeks of sour sweat smell. Can you imagine baby sleeping with her?
2) Handling baby – She holds baby by the underarms and not by supporting the head. I won’t be surprised if the babies she handled before has neck problems. She turns on air-con full blast to suit her temperature (fan full blast and temperature 23-24 degrees), which is freezing for a baby. She does not even bother putting on hat and clothes properly for baby, very anyhow. Baby felt so cold in the morning she could barely move or cry. She does not burb baby properly. She puts baby down so she could return to the room to look at her phone or in a rush to take her nap in the end my baby threw up a lot of milk because she fed baby more than 100ml one shot with no proper burping. She said PEM’s training was baby to be fed every 3 hours to which I told her that she cannot expect baby to follow her schedule. If baby needs feeding she needs it, especially after baby did a big poo. She cannot expect baby to follow her schedule for poo poo/wee wee/feeding/sleeping. We have to follow baby’s schedule and adjust our time accordingly.
3) Preparing food for Mommy – She buys food that she likes to eat and not adjust according to Mommy’s preference. She wakes up early to have a long breakfast and plays on her phone. It’s not her money so she will buy all sorts of unnecessary stuff, extra plastic bags when I have a lot of clear plastic bags at home already. I don’t eat pork or chicken and she spent $200 in one shopping trip to buy a lot of pork and she told my helper she likes to eat she will cook her style. Even my part-time helper was shocked. Her time management was very poor. She prepares my chicken essence very early to suit her time before I wake up. When I wake up she went to cook and when baby cried she ignored baby. She does not prepare ingredients beforehand. A good nanny would know how to pack the herbs and food the night before so the day after she can look after baby and make cooking easier by dumping the ready packed food for cooking. Instead, she only starts to prepare food (chopping/marinating/packing herbs) right before cooking, so she has no time to look after baby. My hubby had to take the role of looking after baby (change nappy/feeding/help me with lactation) while she cooks one meal. She loves abalone so she opened one can and saved the best for herself while giving me a few thin slices of fish and abalone. My helper saw that she kept the thicker slices of fish and abalone for herself. At night, she left the cooked leftover rice overnight in the ricecooker (not in the fridge) and did not clear rubbish bin, my helper said she asked my helper to do it and I told my helper to tell her to do it but in the end she did not. In the end I washed the bin myself which contained residues of cooking and sauces and threw down the rubbish chute.
My hubby and I were so stressed out we could not sleep for 2 nights after observing her for 1 day because she was simply not attentive to baby’s needs. There was no sense of responsibility nanny just wants to do the very bare minimum for the job and leave. Going through PEM for a nanny is not cheap. I paid around S$3,600 to get a nightmare nanny.
